Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce: American Dream Team?

If you were on social media at all within the past three days, the news of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce has been inescapable. Travis invited Taylor to attend the Chief’s game in Kansas this past Sunday. To everyone’s surprise, she sat right next to his mother, Donna Kelce, in his box at Arrowhead Stadium.

In Taylor Swift’s last relationship with Joe Alwyn, fans rarely saw her out. Swift would only make appearances at select award shows alone and obscure after parties involving Alwyn’s acting projects through rare pictures posted on the internet. Whenever the ex-couple would leave restaurants in New York, he would pull her to the car as quick as he could. Fans were under the impression that Swift wanted to keep a private life. She has been protecting her peace since the Kanye West ‘Famous’ fiasco and coincidentally, since she started dating Alwyn. They had become experts in privacy and kept her connection to her fans with an endless amount of new music. It was a rarity to see her in public until the start of her biggest tour yet.

Since the start of her Era’s Tour, she has only gained popularity and astronomical fame. For the first time in what seems like ten years, Swift is actually reveling in her success and hard work. She is constantly creating and bettering herself. She no longer needs to prove that she is more than her past relationships and more than any celebrity drama she was brought into. One major reason why is because she is free from her brooding British actor boyfriend who kept her from the limelight she earned herself.

Taylor and Joe’s break-up rumors started to circulate on Twitter in early April of this year, just after the opening of the Eras Tour. A seemingly fairy-tale relationship was over after six years. Many swifties were in mourning and sad for Taylor. They looked for clues on stage, how she sang all of her love songs she wrote about him. The only hints were in glassy-eyed performances of ‘Champagne Problems’ and a melancholic rendition of ‘Call It What You Want’.

Even though she had signs of hurt in some of her performances, she was unbelievably happy to be performing in sold-out stadiums again. At her second show in Foxborough, MA, Swift said, “It’s just insane. I kind of just feel like telling you… I’ve never been this happy in my life, in all aspects of my life ever before.” At this point, her and Joe had only been broken up for a month and a half as far as everyone knew. This confirmed Joe as the partner who wanted a private relationship and kept her from being bejeweled.

With all this being said, it’s exciting when we see Taylor Swift do anything. It’s national news when she leaves the house. She is a mastermind, so nothing she does is an accident or casual.

Travis Kelce tan a whole campaign to convince Taylor Swift to give him a chance. It started with wanting to give her a friendship bracelet (with his phone number on it) when he went to the Eras Tour in Kansas City July 8. He did not get to meet her, but he didn’t give up. This seemed like nothing at first, but the media took it and ran with it like Kelce. Everyone was rooting Miss Americana and America’s best tight-end to be endgame.

The appeal of this story is the way he pursued her and it paid off. According to Tree Paine, Taylor’s publicist, She liked being pursued and they are seeing where things go (Entertainment Tonight). The proof was all in the videos of Travis looking up at the box in shock and awe before the start of the game. Taylor was also chest-bumping, and boisterously cheering for Travis when he scored a touchdown. The most exciting part of the story was the couple hopping in their Getaway Car after the game. It was all so American: the football star taking the popstar out after the big game for a victory lap.

On Travis and Jason Kelce's podcast, 'New Heights,' posted today, Travis talks a little bit about the Sunday game. He tells listeners that everyone in the box told him she was super kind and beautiful. He hints more about them furthering their relationship, but kept it brief for her privacy. The general public can see how proud he is just from her attending his game, which is refreshing to see. Swift does not start her European leg of the Eras Tour until November, so there's a possibility in her attending more Chiefs games.

Could he be the cowboy she’s been waiting for? Both parties are successful in their own field of celebrity. America is watching, and we will have to see what happens next.
